HCL Launches Two New Android 4.0 Tablets in India

HCL just launched two new Android slates in India, the HCL ME U1 device and the HCL MyEdu Tab, both packing Android 4.0 ICS. These models have competitive pricing and the HCL ME U1 comes with a 7 inch capacitive touchscreen display, with a resolution of 800 x 480 pixels.

The specs also include a 1 GHz processor, 512MB of RAM (DDR3), 4 GB of storage, microSD card slot, mini and regular USB ports and WiFi + 3G connectivity. There’s also a 0.3 megapixel front camera and we know that the HCL ME U1 will be sold in India for about $162. The other slate, HCL MyEdu Tab is created for school children, so it comes with educational content and apps. It has the same hardware as the other HCL model and it’s available in two versions: MyEduTab-K12 and MyEduTab-Higher Education (HE).
The K12 will be sold for $226, while the Higher Education unit will go for around $200 or so, bundled with educational content and online certification pack. Both these models will be available in India from April. HCL won’t have much competition in the education field they entered, aside from maybe the Aakash tablet…
